Finally! We had a blizzard!! What do I do during such an event? I'll tell you, I went outside and made a snow fort! As there's over a foot of thick white flakes fall down from the sky, I don my snow gear and grab a shovel. It took awhile but I piled slightly over five feet of snow in about a six foot hemispere, then dug it out. I took the snow from that and piled it next to it. After that I added more snow to the new pile, making it larger (but still smaller than the original) and started hollowing it out. That part was harder because instead of making another intrance, I had the one from the orginal and just connected the two using a small tunnel. So first I had to dig the tunnel, then to dig out the edition I pile the snow up at it's intrance until I had a decent sized pile, where I then pushed it all through the tunnel. After pushing it through the tunnel I'd pile it up at the real entrance, and go back to digging out the edition. Once I had repeated this process a couple of times, I would then have to dig my way out of the fort due to the massive pile up of snow. Then I would pile it up outside, repeat that entire process, until there was a large pile of snow outside and I would then shovel it onto the edition, to lengthen it, and onto any spots that could use more snow. For the most part that's all I did Sunday, and Monday.
On Monday I did a little more than dig out the fort. I also went to skiing. Technically ski practice was cancelled, but I texted my coaches to see if they would be going out at all today, and would care if I tagged along. When Tony got back to me he had just gotten to work after shoveling for two and a half hours and his arms were shot so he wouldn't be going out that day. Side note: to anyone who has shoveled. especially if you've shoveled after a blizzard where you get over a foot of snow, you'll know what I mean. To those who haven't; never do it. That's something you don't want to try. I had also texted Petra to see if she would be going out, she told me that either she or Vlad (her husband) would be there at 3:30. With that knowledge at hand I ate some food and sat around waiting. Practice sucked. The only people there were Honza, Vasek, Solvieg, and of course Vlad. I was the only there who wasn't being forced to be there. Petra forced Solvieg because she's going to state. Vlad and Petra forced Honza because he's going to state. Vasek had to go because Honza is his brother and Petra and Vlad their parents. Side note: Petra is the cross country ski coach, organizes summer/fall training, and went to the Olympics for skiing. Vlad is the biathlete coach and coached Petra to the Olympics. There's probably more things out there about Vlad, but I just don't spend time around him. And Honza and Vasek are their kids. Petra and Vlad are also from the Czech Replubic. Practice was brutal. After a long warm up around the top, we did intervals. They weren't long ones, but they were fast and we did ten. With there only being four of us Vlad was able to pay special attention to each and everyone of us. No offense to him, but I like Petra's coaching style better. That was basically all I did with my Monday.
Uruguayan Tuesday! Last Wednesday or Thursday some students from Uruguay came to Grand Rapids. Side note: There English teacher is friends with our Spanish II and III teacher. So they came here (some students will go there at the beginning of our summer), and most of the guys are c-u-t-e hot! All of them are amazing dancers too! I was watching them at the dance, well lets be honest everyone was watching them. So on today I was walking down the hallway to go to speech during fifth hour, and I ran into some of the Uruguayans walking down the hallway. For some reason it was all the good looking guys too! One of them, not the hottest but he's up there, saw me coming down the hallway and slowed down so he was behind everyone else. Then as I am about to walk by he's all like "Hey" in his cute accent. I don't know why but almost all accents are cute accents, especially if they're English or really anything from Europe. Anyways...After he said that he continued trying to talk to me, but I could barely squeak out a "Hey". As soon as I got into the room for speech I started to giggle. I'm not sure why I did, but it happened. I think it's one of those girl things that no one can explain. I can't wait to tell Jake! I'm going to wait until Friday because we're going to the hockey game and homecoming dance for his school. Plus I want to see his face! Back to the Uruguayans. Then in Spanish sixth hour we worked together on a project and one of the girls is so funny and she loves to read! We had a funny hour me and her!
