JNQ at Mt. Itasca

Yes, I did another JNQ race, and this time it was at home. The day before the race I had a high school one. It was our first (and only) pursuit of the season and man was it a sad one. Most of the time either couldn't make it or was sick. Maggie showed up and wound up just going home. The two of us went out to do a warm up/see the course ski and after the first hill she was dying. That weekend she had an uber high fever and was just sick. I went and did the first race and just had to puke the entire time. Afterwards I did wind up puking a couple of times, and decided that I just shouldn't do the second race.

Even though I was sick Friday I still decided to race on Saturday.I did the women's 5k and think I did decently. It was a tough course, well mostly it was just a tough beginning. This is what we did; the right horseshoe into the swamp loop, up the switch back climbed all the way up the way, did a loop up top, went down part of bunny hill connected to the service road, whipped around a corner and did the biathlon loop coming out farther down the service road two sharp turns and we went down the roller coaster, up the camel humps down the water fall, to the left horseshoe and then it was just the finishing stretch.

We did an interval start one at a time at 15 seconds. I'm really angry because the girl who started behind me caught me on the wall and then proceeded to draft me for the rest of the race. I'd move to one side, she'd move to that side, I'd speed up, she'd speed up. I couldn't shake her and it really pissed me off. Anyways....I did manage to pass a couple people which made me happy.

I wound up finishing in 17th for U18, but if I had raced for college I would've been 30th. Also for the college since the split the final placement in squads A and B (varsity and junior varsity basically), I would've wound up placing 24th for varsity which makes me feel pretty darn good about myself.

Okay, this post is really going no where cause I'm kinda in a mood and am about to go write a rant about everything because meh.

Timberman Triathlon

Okay, this one really is going to be short. I don't really have much to say besides what's about to be said. So....read on! First off do you know what a triathlon is? Or what the Timberman triathlon is? You don't? Let me explain then. A triathlon is where you swim, bike, and run. You're timed in each event and your transition time (how long it takes you to go from one event to the next) also counts against you. The Timberman is a triathlon held in Grand Rapids MN. It has a long course (mile swim, 26.2 mile bike, and a 10K run. But don't quote me on the bike) and a sprint course (1/3 mile swim, 13.1 mile bike, and a 5K run, but don't quote me on the bike again). It's a fun event put on every year and draws a nice crowd of people from every age and fitness level. I did the short course and this is how it went: Swim The swim was by far my worst event. I did it in my sports bra and spandex shorts (last year I did it in normal shorts and nearly lost them!...

Dear Asthma,

I would prefer to tell you this face-to-face, but seeing as you have no face and live within my own body, I see no chance of that happening anytime soon. Therefore it is with an ache in my chest that I write this to you. I am sorry, but we are different places in life. I will always remember the times we had together. I mean, who could forget the times you've had me doubled over, coughing as my lungs attempt to dispel you from my body causing you to become caught and tangled within my throat so I can no longer take in a breath. There's also the times where you, in anger with my lungs for trying to get rid of you, wrap your arms around my chest and squeeze with all your might. Just as you've done today. I would love to keep you here with me, but we really are in separate places in this life. I know, it sounds cliche and yet it rings true. You've changed since we first met. You now want to take the easy way in life. To sit back and watch all the good times ...

Mother's Day

So today is Mother's Day, but my mom just went back to work. (She's been on medical leave because of a stress fracture in her leg. She couldn't wait to get back to work and so on Thursday when she got the go ahead, she got herself scheduled for 12 hour days all weekend. It's like she was never here again.) So instead if the usual breakfast in bed, which she winds up throwing a fit about anyways, I've cleaned the house. That doesn't sound like much, but the boys are such pigs that the house is always nasty. My mom is like OCD, and can't stand it. So coming home to a clean house will be much appreciated. If it stays clean that is. Not even 5 minutes after I finished cleaning the living room/dining room area it was somewhat messy. Squirt had dumped out the entire sock bag all over the living room, there were a pair of dirty shoes on the arm of the couch belonging to my 21 yr old brother Josh who should know better by now and a jacket on the ground. Normally I...
