Never again

Today my friend Nick texted me asking if I wanted to go biking with him. I figured it be better for me to go biking than to sprint with my quads acting up. KJ agreed and I met Nick at the fairgrounds. The plain was to bike fifteen miles down highway 38 which is around where Suomi Hills are and go back. What a lie! We biked to Marcel  Which is twenty-five miles down 38. I'm going to assume you've never been down that far, and you don't want to. It's all winding curves and hills. It's dangerous driving down it and painful biking. I'm seriously surprised that besides near frost bite, feet swollen due to cold, muscle cramps, chafing, and the fact that it was freezing we didn't run into trouble. The bike out we had a pretty good pace, and were joking and talking, having a real good time. On the way back, not so much. We tried in the beginning, but those hills and the cold got to us. The hills! They are terrible! It's constant up and down. We completely under estimated it. We should've turned back at 15 miles or better yet at 10. It was bad. The last ten miles were the hardest of them all and it was mostly flat with the occasional hill.Really the only things that kept us going were thoughts of food and heat. By the time we got back to his car we were both in considerable pain and couldn't walk right, mainly due to our feet. We may have shed tears of happiness.

We went straight to McDonald's. Neither of us has been there in over a year and only went there to get something greasy and to completely ruin the workout. It worked. We each had 2 double cheeseburgers, split a large fry, split a chocolate shake and he also had some type of caffeine.Nothing has ever tasted better. We were in Nirvana. Nick is taking a shower, which he called the shower of Nirvana. I would, but don't think I can make it up the stairs a second time and am therefor going to stick with a pile of blankets and the couch. I can't wait for our 200 mile bike trip!

My view for just about the entire trip.

JNQ at Mt. Itasca

Yes, I did another JNQ race, and this time it was at home. The day before the race I had a high school one. It was our first (and only) pursuit of the season and man was it a sad one. Most of the time either couldn't make it or was sick. Maggie showed up and wound up just going home. The two of us went out to do a warm up/see the course ski and after the first hill she was dying. That weekend she had an uber high fever and was just sick. I went and did the first race and just had to puke the entire time. Afterwards I did wind up puking a couple of times, and decided that I just shouldn't do the second race. Even though I was sick Friday I still decided to race on Saturday.I did the women's 5k and think I did decently. It was a tough course, well mostly it was just a tough beginning. This is what we did; the right horseshoe into the swamp loop, up the switch back climbed all the way up the way, did a loop up top, went down part of bunny hill connected to the service road,...

Breakups

Well this is a sad a post. I'm sorry for that, feel free to just skip this one. Go on, move on to another happier one. It's okay with me. Just get out of here. Go find a love story. We might as well start with Autumn and Calvin. They dated for over a year and were the first one's in our group to actually date. They made a cute couple with their every Saturday dates, and nicknames, and whatnot. We all thought they'd be the next DAndy (Dan and Andie, a couple from our school who started dating in 8th grade and are still together going into their second year of college. And yes, they go to the same college), but apparently not. Calvin started being a real jerk, and Autumn wasn't putting up with that. The rest is history. Then there was the double whammy of Bailey and Max, and Jake and I. Both in one day...ya... It wasn't planned, and neither knew about the other until later. The weirdest part is that both happened at the same time. The day started out with me a...

Timberman Triathlon

Okay, this one really is going to be short. I don't really have much to say besides what's about to be said. So....read on! First off do you know what a triathlon is? Or what the Timberman triathlon is? You don't? Let me explain then. A triathlon is where you swim, bike, and run. You're timed in each event and your transition time (how long it takes you to go from one event to the next) also counts against you. The Timberman is a triathlon held in Grand Rapids MN. It has a long course (mile swim, 26.2 mile bike, and a 10K run. But don't quote me on the bike) and a sprint course (1/3 mile swim, 13.1 mile bike, and a 5K run, but don't quote me on the bike again). It's a fun event put on every year and draws a nice crowd of people from every age and fitness level. I did the short course and this is how it went: Swim The swim was by far my worst event. I did it in my sports bra and spandex shorts (last year I did it in normal shorts and nearly lost them!...
