So in my last post I talked about how I was thinking about doing a home baking thing. I went to the Armory to give Sergeant Nelson a cupcake. Side note: A couple weeks ago I had made cupcakes and brought some over for the guys but he hadn't been there that day and therefor didn't get any, which is why I brought one today since I had baked this weekend. Side-side note: They were maple pancake cupcakes with maple butter cream frosting. All homemade. He was in a meeting so I was waiting in the, I don't know, building entrance area(?) I met this woman who was waiting for a her meeting. Side note: Turns out that due to weather her meeting had been canceled and she just hadn't been told. We started talking and she told me that she was here to talk about a party for the US that she was planning for Sunday the weekend before the fourth. So we got to talking about and she was telling me about what food she was thinking of and, I kid you not, a light bulb popped out of my head and I told her that I thinking of starting a home baking business, (or would it be called catering?). She thought it was a wonderful idea, and went on about how she hadn't thought of that and what a wonderful idea it was. She asked for my name and number and said that she'd call for pricing and to tell me how much. I then volunteered myself and my friends to help her set up. How nice am I? :) She then asked me if I'd like to also make cupcakes for show boating! I am so in!
Now I just have to think of what I should do for pricing....Hmmm, I'm thinking a general price of like $6 per dozen I think that's a fair price. Unless it's a special type that'd require more or more pricey ingredients I don't really know though, I'll have to look into the pricing of things. If I buy in bulk, start shop sales and with coupons that'd help keep the price low. Buy ingredients like eggs direct from farmers, so that 1. you get that nice fresh egg that hasn't been tampered with by bio engineers or whose parents haven't been fed bad things like growth hormones, and 2. then the price will be lower. Side note: It'd be lower because when you buy from the store you pay a higher price. Why? Because stores buy them from someplace else and to make a profit they have to raise the prices, whereas when you buy straight from the source you pay the original price. Yes! Having friends who live on farms has finally come in handy besides the other times that its come in handy, like all the awesome things you can do on a farm when you're at a sleepover. Side note: That reminds me of the time I helped a friend bale hay, for some reason I had a lot of fun doing it despite having hay in weird places... If you have any suggestions on pricing and whatnot shoot me a comment I LOVE your feedback on it!
