The end of the ski season is upon us

This is my fourth year skiing, and the end of another year. I have pushed myself hard, especially this  year. I do summer training, fall training, and morning strength. When I don't fall asleep thinking of Jake, I fall asleep thinking of skiing. From the moment the ski season ends, I am thinking of next year. I love to ski. I love to compete. Skiing is the one sport I do well in. Until I joined skiing, I didn't know what living really was. Before skiing I was just bumbling through life thinking I could make a future with running. Skiing is what I live for, skiing is who I am, and skiing is my future. There are days when I feel terrible, emotionally and/or physically, but as soon as my skis hit that  snow it all goes away. You could say it heals me. We have practices where we work so hard, I am barely standing at the end, and can't wait to get back out there and do it again the next day. Today for example we did intervals. We were initially going to do them at the top...

Weather and eating disorders!

It's cold out and I have an eating disorder! The weather has finally gotten cold! I guess technically it's been cold, but it's been a warm cold. Last year was horrendous  it was so warm! It forever to get enough snow to ski and that's with Mt. Itasca making snow, then since no one else really had much snow we had other teams traveling to us to ski, and hosted all but three meets. This year is better, still warm but at least we get to travel. What's strange though, is that we went from heat to -20 not including windchill in a weekend.  We haven't skied since the meet on Saturday, and today is Wednesday. Instead Monday and Tuesday we had strength, though i wasn't there either day because on Monday I was still puking and on Tuesday I had an appointment with Jeff Temple about my wrist. I told me that it wasn't broken just something with my growth plate, which also showed up on the x-ray of my other wrist we had it examined this summer. What's g...

It's Been Two Years...

Okay, it hasn't actually been two years. not for about two weeks that is. Well I'll try to catch you up on this, or at least tell you about what's going  on now. I've reconnected with my uncle. I don't know if i can call him my uncle, I mean, is he? By blood he is, but as a baby he was adopted out, and I met him twice. Once, in the second grade when he met the family, and again just this year when we meet. I think that maybe he's less of an uncle and more of a friend, a confidant, a mentor. I trust him and his opinion  and i regret that we never got the chance to truly connect before he moved to Texas a couple of months ago. We both have skype, and we text which is enough for now. He's promised to take me to the Carribeans when I graduate, I don't know if I'll have the money by then, but its something to look forwards to. I'm glad that I did get to see him once this year though. Once again I competed at the Roy Graik Cross Country Running meet ...
